Who uses Swyft Editing?
We edit documents for both academic and business clients. Many students and professional academics turn to Swyft Editing to provide the finishing touches to their term papers, master’s theses, and dissertations. In addition, our staff has helped countless students with their undergraduate and graduate admissions essays.
Our team also has extensive experience editing websites, memos, grant proposals, brochures and other formal business documents. We provide businesses with professional copy at affordable rates.
Why shouldn’t I just use my computer’s spell and grammar check?
No computer’s built-in spell or grammar check can compare with the proofreading and editing services provided by Swyft Learning. Our editors methodically examine every document they receive according to stringent editorial protocols. Apart from simply checking your document for proper grammar, punctuation and sentence structure, we also read your submission as a logical whole. For academic submissions, we make sure that you have crafted a clear thesis statement, that your body paragraphs refer back to your central argument, and that your conclusion emerges logically from your evidence. For business documents, we make sure that your language and style present information in a concise, coherent and professional manner.
Can your editors follow a specific writing style guide?
Of course--all documents are edited according to the style guidelines of your choice. These include the most common styles, such as MLA, Chicago Manual, APA, and CBE. Other styles can be specified when you submit your document.
How do I submit a document?
To submit a document, begin by choosing “Submit Document” from the Editing Menu. After completing the submission form and completing the payment process, you will receive a confirmation email from Swyft Editing. This email will include login information for the Swyft Online Center. Your edited document will be uploaded, upon completion, to this site.
Please remember to let us know what style guideline you would like us to follow.
What file formats do you accept?
Swyft Editing Services accept documents in .doc, .docx, .txt, and .rtf format. If you are requesting website content editing, you may submit the content in these formats or else request that we visit the page itself, though please note that we charge an additional $2.50/page for copy capturing.
How do I pickup my edited document?
When your document is completed, Swyft Learning will send you an email notification. At the time of submission, you may also request that we send you a text message to any phone number within the United States. In addition, you may also periodically check back at the Swyft Online Center. If, when you log on, you discover a document marked “—EDITED,” just click on the link and it will immediately download to your computer.
How do the editors mark up the pages?
Swyft Learning editors typically use the Track Changes function in Microsoft Word when proofreading your document (this is why we prefer the .doc format). When you receive the edited document, you should go to Tools->Track Changes and select Accept or Reject Changes. This will allow you to move through each change to see the suggestions made by your editor. If you would like to accept or reject the changes, you may do so individually or all at once.
If you submit a document in another format, please note that the editor will typically make the changes directly in the document, using boldface to highlight their changes and brackets “[ ]” to indicate their comments.
Who can see my document?
Information is power, or so the saying goes. With that in mind, we recognize that our clients often want to keep information confidential, and have thus designed our submission system so that only one administrative staff member and one editor have access to the document. All editing staff, in addition, are required to sign confidentiality agreements protecting the content of all documents they edit or view.
For how long do you store my documents?
We hold our editors to strict ethical policies. Every editor must sign a contract acknowledging their responsibility to securely erase all documents within 7 days of posting the edited copy to the Swyft Online Center.
How secure is my document?
All documents are submitted through a secure socket layer that encrypts the documents whenever they are in transit. Our clients can thus rest assured that confidential information will remain confidential.
How quickly can I have my document edited?
The speed with which our staff can proofread and edit your document depends upon the page/word count of your submitted document. At Swyft Editing, we do not make promises we cannot keep, which is why we require more turnaround time with longer documents. For more information on turnaround times, click here.
Do you proofread websites?
Yes! Swyft Editing can proofread and copyedit your website content. Indeed, we have designed a special set of editing standards that emphasize website clarity, communication and style. We particularly specialize in websites designed by international clients seeking professional-quality English copy.
While we prefer that clients submit website copy in .doc or .txt format, you can also request that we visit the website online, though please know that we charge an additional $2.50 per page for copy capture.
What are your hours of operation?
Swyft Editing receives documents twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, excluding major holidays. All documents are returned by the submission time within the allotted time frame. For example, if you submit a grant proposal or term paper at 11:00 PM and choose next day turnaround, it will be completed by 11:00 PM the next night.
Please note that 12-hour turnaround requires submissions by 8 pm PST and express editing by 5 pm PST. If you submit outside these periods, we will consider the submission time to be 9 am PST of the following morning.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and most debit cards.
Can I see a free editing sample?
Yes. For any project longer than 100 pages, we will happily send you a free sample page from your submitted document.
How do longer projects work?
For those seeking assistance with longer projects (anything over 100 pages), we typically begin by speaking with you directly to get a sense of not just the project’s scope, but also your expectations and timetable. After this, we then develop an editing plan and contract that include an estimate of how long our editor will take; a clear description of editing guidelines, style and terminology; a sample edited page; and payment specifics. If you are interested in securing an editor for a longer project, please email us at editing@swyftlearning.com.
Do you have a professional code of ethics?
We at Swyft Learning believe in running an ethical business. For that reason, we make a number of promises with regard to you and your work:
o We will not sell your information to any third party – for any reason.
o We will not use your work without your permission.
o We will destroy your work within seven days of return.
o We will not bill you without your prior consent.
I have a question or suggestion. How do I contact Swyft Editing?
