began with hope...
A collection of educators and test prep professionals, we had all grown disenchanted with the educational support industry over the years. What had begun as a legitimate attempt to help students succeed had become a massive business that capitalized on students' fears. Those of us who founded Swyft believe things can – and should -- work differently.
As educators and professional students, many of us at Swyft have experienced financial difficulties in the pursuit of our dreams, and thus know what it means to struggle to make ends meet. We thus began with a question: is it possible to provide top-notch classroom and tutorial instruction at a fraction of the cost of such big names as Kaplan and Princeton Review?
In launching Swyft, we found a formula that worked. Our approach is no-frills. We don’t stage expensive advertising campaigns, we don’t rent gorgeous office spaces, and we certainly don’t fly around in private jets. Instead, we focus our resources where they matter: on recruiting, training and compensating one of the highest-paid and most-qualified teaching staffs in the country. To teach a Swyft course, you must either have a graduate degree or be an advanced graduate student and you must have extensive teaching experience. In addition, you must have scores in the 95th percentile on any exam you teach. No major company can make this claim.
We also invest heavily in research and curriculum development. Apart from our curricular resources, we develop proprietary teaching tools for use only by Swyft Learning staff. Our teaching philosophy, heavily influenced by the work of Howard Gardner and his theories of multiple intelligences, takes into account how different learning styles impact test preparation pedagogy. Every staff member thus undergoes an extensive training program where they learn to cultivate their student’s learning potential to ensure maximum success both on standardized exams and academic coursework.
Most importantly, though, our number one priority – apart from providing exceptional instruction – has been to provide ethical and forth-right educational support services. At Swyft, no one will ever ask you to enroll in more courses than you need. No one will mislead you about the admissions process in order to sign you up for additional services. And no one will ever look at you as an easy target.
Unlike other test companies, we do not take advantage of your fears. For while the admissions statistics do get more and more grim every year, we believe that fear cripples the learning process, turning education into nothing more than an obstacle course.
Instead, we emphasize hard-work and persistence as we help you reach new heights.
